As 2012 comes to an end in a little over a week, I'm taking some time to reflect on the past and the future.
2012 was a wonderful year for York Public Schools. Our ACT scores are up, enrollment is increasing, student achievement on local, state, and national assessments is improving, our staff remains dedicated and hard-working, the facility project at YHS got into full swing, our budget outlook is improving (but still has much room for getting better), and our students are representing our school system and community very well with all of their accomplishments!
2013 promises to be another outstanding year for the Dukes. By Christmas of 2013, our facility project at YHS will be complete. We will continue to improve upon already impressive student achievement scores, will add many more academic, athletic, and extra-curricular accomplishments; as well as curricular and academic offering goals. Our budget will be even a little more stable. Professional development initiatives will help our already talented and dedicated staff even more. Yes, 2013 will be outstanding!
Take some time over the next 10 days to hug those you love and to tell them how much they mean to you. We all get so busy that we often don't take the time to smile, relax, and reach out to those of us that mean the most.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and a Prosperous New Year!
